HVAF of Indiana

Helping Veterans And Families

HVAF helps homeless veterans return to self-sufficiency and engages at-risk veterans and their families throughout Central Indiana to prevent them from becoming homeless by providing supportive housing, case management, employment support, and basic needs including food, hygiene, and clothing. In 2022, HVAF served 1,265 veterans and provided over 33,000 life-changing services.

IndyHumane

Animal Shelter, Pet Adoption

IndyHumane has been committed to helping central Indiana’s pets in need since 1905. The organization’s locations collectively support an average of 10,000 animals each year, roughly 90 percent of which are adopted. They strive to promote the human animal bond and the powerful impact this mutually beneficial relationship has.

Operators Without Borders

Post-Diaster Relief, Mentoring In Developing Countries

Operators Without Borders provides certified, volunteer water and wastewater operators who can support utilities in developing countries following emergency and disaster situations to ensure that safe drinking water and wastewater management services are resumed.

Teachers' Treasures

Helping At-Risk Children in the Community Succeed

Teachers’ Treasures, in partnership with local businesses, charitable foundations, neighborhood organizations and individual contributors, helps fill this need by operating a volunteer-based “Store for Teachers.” Donated educational supplies and other materials are distributed via this unique conduit to teachers for the benefit of their students.

ReStore

Building Homes, Saving Resources, Supporting Communities

ReStore accepts donations of new and gently used items and sells them to the general public. All proceeds go towards Habitat for Humanity's mission of building homes, communities and hope. They help prevent usable items from ending up in landfills, and they are a source of lower-cost building materials and household goods. There are 900+ ReStores in the United States, 22 of which are in Indiana.

Second Helpings

Hunger Relief, Food Rescue, Culinary Job Training

For more than 20 years, Second Helpings has operated a three-part approach to addressing hunger and poverty in Central Indiana. Each day, Second Helpings volunteers and staff rescue prepared and perishable food from wholesalers, retailers, and restaurants – preventing unnecessary waste. That rescued food is used to create more than 4,500 nutritious meals each day that are distributed to more than 90 social service agencies that feed Hoosiers in need.
